Class of 2027

Nicole Desmond, DO

Nicole Desmond

I was born and raised in Cleveland, and I’m excited to be at MetroHealth for my residency! I am a proud DO and graduate of Ohio University Heritage College of Medicine (Cleveland campus). I chose to pursue family medicine for residency because of the flexibility it offers. I love seeing patients of all ages and learning how to address healthcare gaps in my community. Metro's commitment to serving an underserved population aligns with my goal of providing comprehensive, accessible, and equitable care to my patients. My areas of interest include addiction medicine, osteopathic manipulative medicine, women's health, adolescent medicine, and community outreach.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and my kitty, Beans. I truly like to embrace being a "jack of all trades, master of none" in all aspects of my life. I have a wide range of hobbies, but my recent hyper fixation has been learning how to make my own clothes through sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

Asra Kibria, MD

Asra Kibria

I was born and raised in New York. I earned a bachelor's in biology from SUNY Binghamton University and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from New York Medical College. In addition to providing medical care, my aspiration is to leverage my education and public health background to advocate for the needs of vulnerable populations. I was drawn to MetroHealth because its values and mission to help the underserved.

I moved to Ohio in 2008 after I got married and have been calling Ohio home since. I started medical school at NEOMED as a nontraditional student with two young children and had two more while I was in medical school. Needless to say, I struggled in more ways than one! My passion for medicine helped me persevere through some of my most difficult challenges. These challenges not only humbled me but made me a more empathetic and compassionate provider. I am very excited about having the opportunity to train with bright and talented mentors in a setting where diversity is celebrated! My clinical interests include behavioral health, preventative medicine, and women's health.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy gardening, photography, cooking, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family.

My name is Rahila Razzak, I was born and raised in Pakistan. I chose family medicine for its dynamic and rapidly evolving nature that appeals to my innate desire for finding new areas to explore. Family Medicine constantly presents new challenges and opportunities to expand my knowledge base. I enjoy delving into complex cases, investigating puzzling symptoms and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide the highest level of care to my patients. My passion is to work with the underserved communities and that is why I chose Metrohealth. It provides me with the perfect opportunity to fulfil my desire.

Outside of medicine I enjoy painting, watching TV and spending time with my family and friends.

Wadoodoollah Shamsi, MD

Wadoodoollah Shamsi, MD

I was born in Karachi a city known for its vibrant culture and history. Early in life, my family relocated to Jeddah, a bustling metropolitan, where I spent a decade of my formative years before we eventually settled in Calgary, a beautiful, snow-covered region known for its natural beauty and cowboy spirit.

Seeking new opportunities and driven by a passion for medicine, I moved to Kuala Lumpur an international hub of education and innovation, where I pursued and successfully completed my medical degree. This experience broadened my clinical skills and deepened my understanding of global health perspectives.

Today, I’m proud to be a part of MetroHealth, a program that embodies the inclusive nature of family medicine. At MetroHealth, we don’t just focus on outpatient care; our program immerses physicians in all facets of family practice. From the very beginning, I’ve been involved in inpatient care, emergency medicine, outpatient clinics, and obstetrics. These experiences have allowed me to gain extensive knowledge and exposure across various aspects of family medicine, enabling me to tailor my practice to best serve the needs of my patients.

By the way, I purposely left out the names of the countries so you could look them up.

Siddhant Srivastava, DO

Siddhant Srivastava

Hi, I'm Siddhant. I grew up in Canton, Ohio and went to both undergrad and grad school at The Ohio State University - go Bucks! I then moved to Athens for medical school at Ohio University. Within family medicine, I enjoy in-office procedures, sports medicine, lifestyle medicine, education, and preventative care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, traveling (coordinating around foods I want to try), cooking, and finding any reason to be outdoors!

Naail Tariq, DO

Naail Tariq

Hello! I was born in Canada but grew up in rural northeastern Kentucky. I attended Western Kentucky University for undergraduate where I learned Spanish and went to medical school at Lincoln Memorial University in Tennessee. I had a lot of interests in medicine, but ultimately, I chose Family Medicine because I appreciated that anything you learn in life, whether it be through formal education, life experience or hobbies can be applied in this specialty, making learning so much more rewarding. MetroHealth has a uniquely socioeconomically, ethnically, and linguistically diverse population that really attracted me to it and mixed with the culture of the residents and attendings and the vibe of the city, I felt that this was the right program for me. In my free time, you'll find me watching Tennis, running, vintage shopping and thrifting, biking, running off to visit my family all over the continent, and at the art museum! Life has taught me that planning for it years in advance often isn't helpful, so I'm very open minded to the type of practices I'll be in post residency. But all I know is - I won't be able to just stick to one thing!
