Curriculum

Didactics

The Surgery Residency Program has a robust didactic schedule designed to complement the residents’ rotations and individual learning goals. Educational blocks are protected time dedicated to scholarship activity and will not overlap with patient care responsibilities.

Conferences vary widely in format and include traditional lecture, journal club, case presentation and review, quality improvement activities, discussion, bedside instruction, and simulations. Residents will play an active role in conferences and have multiple opportunities to demonstrate comprehension, assess their progress, and receive feedback for continuous growth.

Didactic content also covers a breadth of topics ranging from basic science and medical case review to communication, wellness, and personal development.

Our hands-on and cooperative approach to didactic curriculum will not only help to prepare residents as surgeons but also as physician teachers for future generations ready to make an impact in their communities.
