Application Process

If you are interested in pursuing a challenging and rewarding residency experience at MetroHealth, please see details below for application. MetroHealth is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA).

All applicants must possess a DDS or DMD degree from an ADA accredited dental school or from an ADA recognized international dental school and should have satisfactorily completed an academic program of study no less than four years culminating in a degree, diploma, or certificate in dentistry recognized by the appropriate civil authorities of the country in which the school is located.

The MetroHealth dental residency programs participate in the ADEA PASS service. Applicants for both programs are required to:

  • Submit an online PASS application to the MetroHealth AEGD or GPR program no later than October 15th.
  • Graduate from an ADA accredited, or an ADA recognized international dental school prior to the July 1st entry date.
  • Complete their board exams, NBDE-1 and NBDE-2, or INBDE.
  • Be proficient in the English language. TOEFL result of 90 or above.

Accepted candidates are required to begin the program on July 1st of the academic year. Letters of recommendation and National Board scores should be submitted through PASS.

The Admission Committee will review all applications but will only invite qualified candidates for an interview. Selection of applicants for admission is based on the interview, personal essay, Personal Potential Index (PPI), Professional Evaluation Form (PEF). Applicants with strong clinical experience and an interest in community-based dentistry are strongly considered.
