- Application Process
Please note that we plan our recruitment process in a way that will make candidates feel welcome and safe, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, racial/ethnic background, national origin, religion, or disability.
Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The Association of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Program Directors (APCCMPD) recommendations for applicants and program directors for the MyERAS application in the 2024-2025 recruitment cycle are available here.
For letters of recommendation, we accept 3 or 4 letters. Submitting 3 letters instead of 4 will not result in a penalty.
To help us evaluate your personal statement in a meaningful way, please consider including narratives addressing: your background and your journey that lead you to where you are; your “successes” as well as your “failures” and what you learned in the process; and your preferred way to learn, your style of teaching, and examples for both.
Our program participates in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and is listed as "The MetroHealth System/Case Western Reserve University Program." Our ACGME program number is 1563831057. For the 2024-2025 interview/match season our fellowship interviews will be held exclusively virtually. We hope this decision will reduce unnecessary confusion, stress, and inequity among applicants and may promote a more successful residency selection process for all. This decision is supported by the American Association of Medical Colleges, the APCCMPD, and the National Resident Matching Program.
As part of the interview invitation material, we will provide you with information about the city and the hospital that may be helpful if you decide to visit. If you decide to visit, we would love to say “hi” to you, but we regret that we will not be able to accompany you on a tour or spend much time with you. Please note that your choice to visit, or not, will not affect your application status or ranking for the Match.
