Program Mission

The mission of the MetroHealth Surgery Residency Program is to train the next generation of surgeon clinicians, educators, and leaders to provide compassionate care with a commitment to improving the health of diverse communities through service, research, and innovation.

The health system is committed to medical education through its affiliation with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) for the past 106 years. A major focus of the health system is dedicated to training clinicians, scholars, educators, and future leaders prepared to face the future challenges in healthcare.

The mission of the Department of Surgery parallels that of the institution in clinical as well as educational activities to provide compassionate, high quality, patient-centered care to our community without exception.

Our values mirror those of the System: Service to others, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect, Inclusion and Diversity, and Quest for Excellence.
