The MetroHealth System PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency strives to graduate pharmacists who knowledgeable, independent ambulatory care providers in multiple environments. As multidisciplinary health care team members, they will apply their knowledge and communication skills to promote pharmacy practice through inter-departmental relations, dedication to the organization, and commitment to the pharmacy profession.
Furthermore, residents fulfill their career goals by acquiring positions as ambulatory care within the MetroHealth System, the greater Cleveland area, and nationwide. Our residents train under qualified, experienced preceptors who prepare them for a career in pharmacy practice.
The residency will consist of longitudinal rotations that will allow the resident to develop a strong rapport with their own patient panel as well as shorter block rotations to explore specialized areas of practice. Once the resident has demonstrated competency, the resident will be able to become credentialled and privileged to work under their own collaborative practice agreement. View the curriculum and learn more about how to apply. PGY2 Ambulatory Pharmacy Residents will have rotations at MetroHealth Medical Center (Main Campus), as well as at other MetroHealth locations including but not limited to: Parma, Old Brooklyn, Broadway, Beachwood, and Bedford.

Purpose of MetroHealth PGY2 Ambulatory Care Residency: PGY2 residency programs build upon Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency training to develop pharmacist practitioners with knowledge, skills, and abilities as defined in the educational competency areas, goals, and objectives for advanced practice areas. Residents who successfully complete PGY2 residency programs are prepared for advanced patient care or other specialized positions, and board certification in the advanced practice area, if available.
PGY2 residencies provide residents with opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge and incorporating both into the provision of patient care or other advanced practice settings.
Residents who successfully complete an accredited PGY2 pharmacy residency are prepared for advanced patient care, academic, or other specialized positions, along with board certification, if available.
