Thank you for taking the time to look into our program and letting me tell you about what makes our program special. I am so excited to recruit a wonderful new class of residents to join our Med-Peds family in 2025.
One of my favorite parts of our program is the mission of MetroHealth and the diverse patient population we serve. As a public health system devoted to the care of the underserved, MetroHealth provides quality healthcare to so many patients who might not receive treatment otherwise, and that passion is so evident in everyone who works at our hospital. As Med-Peds residents, we learn how to treat a myriad of conditions across the entire lifespan. In 2022, we moved into the beautiful new state-of-the-art Glick Center which was such an upgrade for us and our patients! We have an awesome simulation center where we practice procedures and mock clinical scenarios.
Our program also started a Med-Peds continuity clinic in two different locations, which allows us to work alongside and learn from amazing med-peds attendings who are dedicated to our primary care education. We are well integrated into both the medicine and pediatrics programs but also have a distinct identity as a med-peds family, and we meet together weekly for Med-Pedss themed didactics.
Our program allows you to tailor your training to accomplish your career goals. Some options include international rotations, working in our PRIDE clinic, doing subspecialty rotations at partnering hospitals in Cleveland, spending a week at Camp Ho Mita Koda caring for kids with type 1 diabetes, developing teaching skills by educating many local medical students, and investing in our patients through volunteering at many community events including multicultural health fairs.
Finally, Cleveland is a great place to live. The cost of living is affordable and there are so many activities to enjoy. You can hike in the Cleveland MetroParks, have a picnic on one of our beaches, kayak in the Flats, visit the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, admire beautiful art for free at the Art Museum, catch a sports game from one of our major sports teams, see a show at Playhouse Square, or discover a fun new restaurant in one of Cleveland’s many diverse communities- to name a few.
I hope you will apply to our program and I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Shaina Logemann, MD
