Research

Fellows are required to participate in scholarly activity. Depending on the interests of the fellow, this may involve a case report with a review of the literature, a retrospective chart review project, or a clinical research project.

There are research and grant-writing opportunities with faculty both in the endocrinology division and in related specialties. Our electronic medical record, EPIC, includes a feature called “SlicerDicer” that enables the user to search the hospital data base for retrospective chart review projects. Ongoing faculty research includes data bases that could be used for clinical research by fellows.

We ask our fellows to organize their scholarly activity in a manner that will result in a publication or a presentation at a national meeting. In addition, each fellow is required to complete a quality improvement/patient safety project during their training
