Curriculum

The fellowship’s curriculum includes both didactic and clinical experience, under the guidance of experienced, nationally recognized MD and APP faculty. Fellows can expect to learn how to perform a nuanced neurological assessment, interpret neuroimaging, develop an understanding of EEG, interpret transcranial doppler waveforms, perform and interpret bedside ultrasound, and perform bedside procedures including endotracheal intubation, arterial lines, central venous catheters and lumbar puncture.

The fellow will have an opportunity to participate in journal clubs, morbidity and mortality reviews, ongoing quality improvement and research projects, as well as assist in education for nursing. The fellow can expect to work shifts of varying lengths and will include both day/night shifts, as well as weekends.

Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) work hour restrictions will be strictly enforced.

Work weeks will typically range between 40 – 60 hours per week.

The rigorous 12 month program will be roughly broken down in the following way:

24 weeks Neurology/Neuroscience Critical Care Unit

• Longitudinal Epilepsy Clinic/EEG education

4 weeks Neurosurgery

2 weeks Neuroradiology

4 weeks Medical ICU

4 weeks Trauma ICU

10 weeks electives (ID, Renal, Cardiology, Neurointerventional)

4 weeks vacation

52 weeks total
