“The Case Western SCI fellowship was a fantastic one-year experience that provided me with sound subspecialty training. The variety of hospital settings is where Case shines. At MetroHealth, the roar of the Life Flight helicopter outside the ICU is a frequent reminder that you are at an active Level 1 trauma center, and with that comes management of truly acute spinal cord injuries.
The months at Cleveland Clinic provide rotations with renowned neurosurgeons and physiatrists specializing in multiple sclerosis.
Here you can scrub into interesting surgical cases and hone your techniques in spasticity management with botulinum toxin injections and plenty of baclofen pump refills. The rotation at the Cleveland VA, one of the nation's SCI hubs, complements the acute training with chronic management of SCI.
Many of the Case faculty you work with are part of the world-famous Cleveland FES Center, which actively leads the research, design, and clinical implementation of FES systems for those with spinal cord injuries.”
