Thank you for your interest in the Diagnostic Radiology residency program at Case Western Reserve University | MetroHealth Medical Center. Our training program offers a unique blend of academic medicine and immersive clinical experience, all set in a collegiate practice environment focused on resident education.
MetroHealth residents are trained in Cleveland’s largest and longest operating Level 1 Trauma Center. The program excels in providing a balanced education in inpatient and outpatient radiology with graded residency responsibilities throughout four years of training.
We serve a diverse patient population with expanding catchment areas throughout greater Cleveland. Our emphasis is on the development of outstanding clinical Radiologists and future practice leaders in academic and private practice settings.
As a medium-sized training program, offering 5 Diagnostic Radiology training positions per year, our residents benefit from working 1-on-1 with a growing group of over 30 subspecialty trained faculty.
We provide daily afternoon didactics, Grand Rounds discussions, and several interdepartmental conferences with top healthcare professionals across medicine and surgery. Highlights of our didactic program include case-based learning, professional development, radiology economics, healthcare ethics, and artificial intelligence.
Our subspecialty trained faculty have academic appointments at Case Western Reserve University and provide our residents with outstanding hands-on diagnostic and interventional training and a comprehensive curriculum in Radiologic physics.
In collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, our residency training program also offers an Early Specialization in Interventional Radiology (ESIR) pathway as well as combined Interventional Radiology/Diagnostic Radiology (IR/DR) residency.
Residents, faculty, and recent graduates hold distinguished positions in state and national radiological societies including the Ohio Radiological Society, American College of Radiology, American Board of Radiology, and Society of Interventional Radiology.
Outside of the practice environment, our Radiology family includes outdoor enthusiasts, pilots, athletes, musicians, and world travelers.
MetroHealth recently began a transformation project highlighted by the construction of a new Main Campus hospital which will house the radiology department, beginning in 2023. The project emphasizes MetroHealth’s commitment to green spaces, community programs, employee wellness, and world-class healthcare.
