Career/Research Interests: My goal is to be a generalist. I am interested in family planning research, currently looking at factors affecting contraceptive decision-making during antepartum and postpartum care.

Favorite part of Residency: My favorite part of residency is the residents! It is fun to go to work with your friends.

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: My favorite thing to do in Cleveland is go to the beach (Edgewater Park). I like to run, knit, and play with my cats in my free time.

Emma Gaboury, MD - Educational Administrative Chief

Career/Research Interests: Healthcare disparities in OB/GYN, Reproductive Justice, abortion care, and adolescent gynecology

Favorite part of Residency: Taking care of our amazing patients and learning how to help them advocate for their overall health and well-being, and spending time with my Metro family.

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: Reading (books besides OB/GYN textbooks), Peloton, watching too much Netflix. My favorite Cleveland activity is going to Edgewater Dog beach with my dog and husband! I'm also on a mission to find the best coffee/pastry shop in Cleveland before I graduate from residency.

Alex Harrison, MD

Career/Research Interests: I am interested in obstetrics research, specifically doing quality improvement in hematology at the moment.

Favorite part of Residency: I love the continuity in our residency such as taking care of someone for the whole pregnancy and then delivering them.

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: When not working I love to travel, hike, cook. I love Cleveland sports, exploring parks, eating at all of our great restaurants.

Diana Mitchell, MD, MBA - Clinical Administrative Chief

Hometown: Salt Lake City, Utah

Medical School: Texas Tech University School of Medicine

Career/Research Interests: Urogynecology (known since fourth year of medical school), academic medicine (I enjoy teaching and hope to work with residents one day), currently researching depression and anxiety following surgery for pelvic organ prolapse

Favorite part of Residency: The people we work with! Our program is team oriented, and I've never felt alone while caring for patients. We also like to have fun together outside work! We get hands on surgical training from day one of residency, and I feel very comfortable in the OR. Starting third year, I'm being allowed to take on more challenging cases, and I feel well prepared to do so.

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: I love taking my two dogs to the various MetroParks & Edgewater beach with my fiancé. I also enjoy baking desserts and knitting in my spare time. When I get home to Utah I love to ski and snowboard with my friends and family.

“If I weren’t a Doctor, I would be…”: realistically a nurse practitioner or a nurse anesthetist since I was working as a nurse prior to medical school. I've been on the doctor -> nursing -> doctor trajectory since graduating high school, so it's honestly hard to imagine doing anything outside of healthcare. Possibly healthcare administration with my MBA?

Career/Research Interests: Generalist as of now, but I'm open to different subspecialties, would love to do research involving contraception

Favorite part of Residency: My co-residents, I've enjoyed getting to know them all and look forward to our weekly gatherings outside of work (currently bachelorette nights). And I love my intern class!

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: I enjoy traveling, reading, watching new movies/shows, cooking, and playing with my pup, Charlie. During the pandemic, I became interested in skincare, so you'll find me frequently talking about skincare routines. My favorite thing to do in Cleveland is exploring new pockets of the city and frequenting my favorite restaurants.

Favorite part of Residency: My co-residents! Everyone is incredibly supportive - I can always count on my team have my back. And having hands on experience in the OR from day one.

Interests/Hobbies/Favorite thing to do in Cleveland: Reading thriller novels and watching reality TV, especially Love Island and anything Bravo. Avid Pelotoner, can be found on the leaderboard almost every day! I love walking/running along Edgewater beach, exploring the restaurant/brewery scene in Northeast, Ohio, and spending time with family and friends who are close by.

Favorite part of Residency: First and foremost, the people - the residents and attendings alike have been beyond welcoming, engaged in both my personal and professional growth. Secondly, the opportunity to train at a safety net hospital that prides itself in caring for Cleveland’s underserved communities.
