Application Process

Program Requirements

  • USMLE Step scores and/or COMLEX
  • A Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE)
  • Three or more letters of recommendation
  • At least three months of United States, United Kingdom or Canadian clinical experience (observerships, externships and research are not considered clinical experience)
  • Graduation from medical school within the last 5 years

Application Process

All applicants are required to submit their application through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

MetroHealth participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). The NRMP match numbers include:

1553140P1  Internal Medicine Preliminary – Anesthesiology
1553140P2 Internal Medicine Preliminary - Radiology

1553140C0  Internal Medicine – Categorical
1553140C5  Internal Medicine – Leadership in Medical Education Pathway
1553140M1  Internal Medicine – Primary Care in Vulnerable Populations

We will conduct virtual interviews only during the 2023 – 2024 season.

International Student Applicants

Qualified students from other countries are considered for appointment to our programs and include:

  • Graduates of medical schools in Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
  • Graduates of medical schools located outside of the United States or Canada who have or will obtain a valid certificate from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) or a full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a U.S. licensing jurisdiction.

Visa Information

MetroHealth sponsors J-1 visas. At the discretion of the program, a limited number of H-1B visas may be issued on a case-by-case basis, but cannot be guaranteed to any applicant.
