• Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Residency

Welcome to the Med-Peds Residency Program at MetroHealth. Since 1986, our department is dedicated to training clinicians, scholars, educators and leaders in a supportive and diverse environment.

Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency

Welcome from the Chair

Holly PerzyIt is my distinct honor to introduce you to the MetroHealth Department of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics. We are the first separate internal medicine-pediatrics academic department in the country. For over three decades, we have trained residents, built a strong med-peds faculty and have remained committed to Cleveland’s highly complex and most vulnerable patient populations. We pride ourselves in providing multidimensional primary care while specializing in transitions of care for patients with complex and lifelong disabilities. We are committed to deliver care to all through purposeful, inclusive, affirmative and respectful actions toward everyone we serve–this is illustrated through the success of our comprehensive care program for individuals with neurodevelopmental difficulties and our PRIDE network for children, adolescents and adults in our LGBTQI+ community.

We seek a diverse group of residents who share our passion for providing excellent healthcare to all, regardless of ability to pay. We stimulate our residents to become excellent clinicians and communicators as well as physician advocates and leaders. We demonstrate commitment to our communities and quality patient care by holding our residents’ professional and personal development in the highest regard. We understand that integrating life and work is crucial to long-term career sustainability and success and, importantly, to promote a thriving community of health care providers.

We are proud of our collaborative learning environment. We are focused on our newly revamped mission, vision, values and purpose—an effort which was successful through both resident and faculty input. Our values reflect the residents we seek, those who are curious, respectful, search for knowledge and truth, and have gumption. We train physicians to be the doctors we want to work with—those with breadth of knowledge, depth of understanding, collaborative work styles, and a strong appreciation for the profound rewards of the profession of medicine.

Respectfully,

Holly B. Perzy, MD, MMM, FAAP, FACP
Chairperson, Department of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics
