About Me
I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. I want to pursue family medicine because I enjoy treating patients from a diverse population, in terms of patient age and cultural background. I also enjoy being able to manage a wide variety of conditions, like piecing a jigsaw puzzle together. Being a Chinese speaker (both Cantonese and Mandarin), I want to be an advocate for healthcare for the Chinese-speaking community. My career goal after residency training is to be a community primary care physician that is able to care for a diverse patient population and that is also able to accommodate the cultural needs of the Chinese-speaking population.
Having only started my intern year at MetroHealth a few weeks ago, my experience has been profound. I am getting ample experience on taking ownership of my patients, especially ones with complex and/or multi-morbidity. It has been a challenge to take in many scattered parts and pieces of patient information and be able to form an assessment plan from such, now that I am a real practicing physician. Residency training so far has also taught me to be more adaptable in terms of my sleep schedule given that I need to constantly cycle between daytime and nighttime shifts. Needless to say, residency has been challenging but seeing myself improve every day on top of having patients show me appreciation has been rewarding.
Unfortunately, I have been very busy with settling down in Cleveland from my move from Vancouver and with starting residency thus far. I haven't been able to explore Northeast Ohio too much for the time being. I love watching the NBA. I have never attended an official NBA game in-person before, so I hope to catch a Cavs game in-person sometime soon!
