I was raised in South Texas, a place brimming with cultural exchange between the United States and Mexico. I enjoyed a childhood of learning the stories of the people around me and find that to be the greatest joy of medicine to date. In medical school, I got to train at several institutions including a county hospital and realized that was the kind of setting I wanted to train and work in for the rest of my career.
