About Me
I was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and moved to the United States after high school to pursue a career in medicine. I completed my undergraduate education from McDaniel College in Maryland before joining Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where I spent two and a half years working as a research technologist in a cancer genomics and molecular oncology translational research lab.
My motivation to pursue medicine began much earlier, while helping care for my mother as she battled a neurodegenerative condition. The journey made me increasingly curious about healthcare navigation, scientific advancements, and how I could someday contribute directly to patient care.
I later attended Kansas City University for medical school and completed my intern year in Family Medicine at Texas Tech University in Amarillo before transferring to MetroHealth as a PGY-2 resident.
My long-term goal is to build a procedure-focused outpatient practice where I can combine comprehensive primary care with the procedural skills I enjoy most.
What I have enjoyed most about my experience so far is learning from mentors with an incredible breadth of knowledge. I am continually impressed by how much expertise each of our attendings brings to both teaching and patient care in their own ways.
Another highlight has been the incredibly diverse and interesting pathology we encounter. The variety of patients and clinical conditions we see provides excellent exposure to the full spectrum of Family Medicine and challenges us to become knowledgeable, adaptable, and versatile physicians.
The faculty and mentors are incredibly supportive of each resident’s individual interests and career goals. And we are fortunate to have a program director who is an excellent teacher and physician, who genuinely invests in our growth and provides the guidance needed to help us become the kind of physicians we hope to be.
Being relatively new to Cleveland, I am still exploring things the city has to offer, but as a foodie, I am pleasantly surprised by Cleveland’s diverse food scene. Some of my all-time go-to places include Koko Bakery for Asian drinks and freshly baked treats, and Spice Spring restaurant for authentic Sichuan Chinese food.
I also really enjoy downtown Cleveland. The architecture is beautiful, and I appreciate how much history and character the city has. One of my favorite places I have visited is The Arcade, its preserved ornate interior makes you travel back in time.
What I have been enjoying most about Cleveland is the balance it offers. You can experience an urban downtown without the overwhelming crowds of some larger cities, while Lake Erie, beaches, parks, and beautiful outdoor spaces are all nearby. Cleveland also hosts so many cultural festivals and seasonal events throughout the year that you'll always have something fun to attend.
