About Me
Growing up in Seoul, South Korea, my parents instilled in me a deep-seated belief in karma, a principle that taught me the importance of helping others. This worldview shaped my own paradigm, leading me to a career in medicine with a strong desire to care for those who are often marginalized. When it came time to choose a specialty, radiology felt like a natural fit. While I was drawn to the unique role of diagnosing patients through images, I also found a certain peace in the quiet, dark reading room—a place where I could embrace my preference for staying out of the sun and focus on the intricate details of each case.
Working at MetroHealth has been a fantastic experience for me, largely due to the incredible training environment. The absence of a shaming culture makes it a supportive place to learn, where I feel comfortable asking questions and growing without fear of judgment. The attendings are not only brilliant but also incredibly helpful and approachable, always willing to guide us through complex cases. This collaborative spirit extends to the technicians, who are equally easy to work with and contribute to a truly positive atmosphere. Beyond the supportive culture, I appreciate the diverse range of pathologies we encounter, which constantly challenges me and broadens my medical knowledge. The most rewarding part, however, is the direct appreciation from patients, which reinforces my passion for medicine and reminds me of the meaningful impact we have every day.
I've truly come to enjoy my time in Cleveland, and there are several reasons why this city has captured my heart. The weather, in particular, is a major highlight; the late summer and fall seasons are absolutely beautiful, with crisp air and stunning foliage. I also love the city's proximity to Lake Erie—my commute to the MetroHealth campus is a quick ten-minute drive, and I often find myself taking a moment to appreciate the breathtaking sunsets over the lake. On a practical note, the affordability of living here is a huge plus, allowing me to enjoy a great quality of life without the financial strain of a larger city. Plus, being just 2.5 hours away from the Detroit airport makes travel to see family and friends incredibly convenient.
