  • Create a MetroHealthy Challenge which is something that is offered by our health system to help increase healthy habits or participate in another health initiative such as system wide health fairs, etc.
  • The last few years the residents completed a podcast and commentary with iForum RX. They were able to obtain a peer reviewed publication through this opportunity.
  • The residents are responsible for creating and implementing a new service project which can lead to the potential for grant proposal work. 

  • The residents are responsible for taking two IPPE pharmacy students from Northeast Ohio Medical University over the course of the year
  • Other rotations may offer precepting experience through a layered learning approach 

Each resident is paired with a mentor of their choice. A mentor will serve as an additional person for questions and support. They can also help guide and prepare you for job opportunities after residency.

The residents work together on a new service project based on their interests and departmental needs. In some cases, the service may continue after graduation. The residents learn the process of starting a new clinical service, implantation, and then review. They also have one large individual project to work on over the course of the year based on their interests. This project is presented at state and national meetings, with hopes of publication at the end. Lastly, a seminar is completed on a controversial clinical pharmacy topic.

Staffing occurs within our anticoagulation clinic. The residents work every third Saturday morning on a rotational basis.

  • Residents do take part in an advocacy rotation which currently does include active participation on a national committee.
  • Residents are involved in one of our residency subcommittees which includes: Residency Engagement and Social Media, Research, Interview, Block Student, and Presentation subcommittees.

  • There are 5 conferences the residents attend over the course of the year funded by the health system.
  • The conferences include but are not limited to the following: OSHP Annual Meeting, ASHP Midyear, Vizient at Midyear, ACCP Virtual Poster Symposium (pending acceptance), and OPA Annual Conference.

  • Residency engagement events are scheduled regularly for both preceptors and residents
  • Opportunity for community service projects
  • The PGY2 program director has scheduled formal check ins as well as informal check ins
