Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship

Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship program offers comprehensive care to a diverse population with special emphasis on socially disadvantaged, minority, and vulnerable populations.

We are an ACGME accredited Maternal-Fetal Medicine fellowship, in partnership with Case Western Reserve University. Our program has trained locally and nationally recognized physicians since the late 1970’s.

During clinical training, our fellows work with:

  • Experts in medical and pregnancy complications
  • Fetal ultrasound
  • Fetal Echocardiography
  • Prenatal diagnostic testing (e.g., amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling) and fetal blood sampling/transfusion

Fellows also participate in collaborative care between medical disciplines, including neonatal/surgical/medical intensive care specialists, as well as infectious disease, addiction medicine, informatics, population health and cardio-pulmonary disease specialists, among others.

In addition, fellows learn:

  • Principles of research ethics
  • Study design
  • Data analysis
  • How to publish their results so future pregnant women can benefit from these efforts

Aims

Fellows will graduate with the ability to:

  • Manage patients with complex medical and obstetrical complications
  • Manage fetuses with complicated structural issues including those with growth or structural abnormalities, genetic syndromes, and chromosome abnormalities.
  • Create a hypothesis driven research study and can implement, analyze, and report outcomes
