The MetroHealth Medical Center is an outstanding academic medical center and has been a major affiliate of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine since 1914.

The primary goal of our program is to provide residents with a well-rounded education and clinical experience in a friendly and enthusiastic academic environment. We pride ourselves on our excellent state-of-the-art patient care as well as our family-oriented residency program.

MetroHealth’s Internal Medicine Residency Program has an excellent reputation. We pride ourselves in training future leaders in academic and clinical medicine. Over the last 50 years, we have graduated well over 1,200 physicians, many of whom received acceptance into the most competitive fellowship programs.

Our supportive and diverse environment fosters academic and personal growth, as well as compassionate, high quality, patient-centered care. We are committed to serving our community, especially the under-served, by delivering outstanding health care without exception.

Aims

  • To offer an innovative training program that cultivates residents, through graduated autonomy and mentorship, to become leaders with the capacity to pursue careers in clinical medicine, education, research and/or administration.
  • To create an educational environment that fosters scholarly activities with an emphasis on quality improvement, research and community health.
  • To promote a nurturing and collaborative atmosphere that encourages resident wellness, personal growth, and camaraderie.
  • To recruit and develop exemplary faculty and residents who have a passion for teaching, service and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • To promote the health and well-being of our community, with an emphasis on the underserved.
