Create Family Medicine Providers who serve a diverse and underserved population, who remain at MetroHealth and in the Cleveland community; and to continue to provide high quality primary care to those in need in the future.
Train residents who have strength in evidence -based/academic medicine, with a consistent breadth of knowledge, enabling them to achieve board certification at the first attempt.
Train residents who excel at team-based care and leadership and demonstrate professionalism in all aspects of medicine.
Enable both faculty and residents to find and maintain joy in Family Medicine, in daily professional responsibilities, and in their career paths overall.
The department's faculty members represent leaders in geriatrics, obstetrics, medical quality improvement, and patient education. A multidisciplinary team approach to patient care is at the heart of our philosophy of residency training. The Family Medicine Department strives to create an atmosphere where learning takes place in a supportive and collegial environment.
After completing the residency program, our residents leave with the confidence that they have the clinical skills to manage a wide array of health concerns and disease, strong skills in the application of evidence-based medicine, and a deep understanding and appreciation of the family and community systems that shape their patients' lives.
