Curriculum
MetroHealth’s residency program offers rigorous training in a research-focused, immersive environment. Some highlights of the program include:
- More than 60 peer reviewed publications in the past three years with ample opportunities for resident participation
- Ground and air pre-hospital care
- Quarterly simulation center experience on site for learning critical life-saving skills
- Monthly cadaver lab with 5 – 7 cadavers
- Opportunity to teach medical students and EMT/paramedics in the Emergency Department as well as the classroom

Tracks
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at MetroHealth/Cleveland Clinic has multiple voluntary “track” options for residents looking to specialize or who have a particular interest in a certain area. We currently have the following tracks available:
- Ultrasound
- EMS
- Critical Care
- Medical Education
- Administration
Residents can apply to their desired track at the end of PGY1 year. Each track has a specialized curriculum and faculty assigned to it. Upon successful completion of the track, residents will receive a formal certificate of completion.
This is a great opportunity for residents to build their CVs for future jobs and fellowship opportunities. We are always looking to expand our list of track options and welcome residents to propose and help create additional opportunities!
