Research/Scholarly Activity

Residents are required to participate in scholarly activity. This may include research or a presentation at a regional or national meeting, or publication of a book chapter.  In addition, each completes a quality improvement/patient safety project.

Most residents present at prestigious meetings such as the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management, the Midwest Anesthesia Resident Conference, and others.

The Department of Anesthesiology hosts a yearly Alfred C. Pinchak Research Symposium. At this meeting, residents present, compete for awards, and enjoy discussion and food.
